The Press Club of Southeast Texas currently offers six scholarships geared toward Southeast Texas students pursuing studies and a career in journalism, mass communications, advertising, public relations, or a related field.

There are two press club scholarships available through and administered by the Department of Communication and Media at Lamar University for its students.

They are “The Press Club of Southeast Texas Memorial Scholarship” and “The Gordon Baxter Scholarship.”

Currently enrolled Lamar University students may apply for the above endowed scholarships using Lamar University’s “MyScholarships” portal.

The club also sponsors three $500 scholarships for Lamar State College students who are studying or pursuing a career in the media, public relations, academia, public affairs, corporate communication, or public information.

Scholarships are awarded to one student each from the Lamar Institute of Technology, Lamar State College Orange and Lamar State College Port Arthur.

Applications are accepted from April 1 – May 1 each year.

There is also one $500 scholarship available to a Southeast Texas high school senior who is planning to attend college with plans to study or pursue a career in the media, public relations, academia, public affairs, corporate communication, or public information.
